Ever wonder what other Tokyo mothers feed their babies? Ever think about using Japanese ingredients when your baby starts solids?
We are working on a cookbook of Japanese baby food recipes The aim of the cookbook is to provide non-Japanese mothers with a better understanding of what mothers in Japan feed their children.
As non-Japanese mothers, many of us wonder what type of food Japanese mothers serve and what kind of food products (from baby formula to teething biscuits) the mothers use here . This cookbook will hopefully provide some valuable information and unravel the mystery a little bit. The Concept Other Features
To profile about 10 mothers/babies representing a variety of backgrounds (working mothers, full time mothers, non-Japanese mothers) and introduce one of their child's favorite Japanese recipes.
Each mother/baby will represent one food theme/chapter and more recipes from the same theme would be included. We aim to include recipes that represent the following age groups: 5-6 months, 7-8 months, 9-11 months, and 12+ months.
Sample themes include soy (Kinako/Tofu), dashi-related meals, seaweed, fish, unique Japanese vegetables (e.g., lotus, goya), rice-related meals, and noodle dishes.
We are currently in the process of conducting a survey and need your help. This survey is short, it will only take 10 minutes of your time. Whether you are Japanese, or non-Japanese, your answers will provide an interesting insight into the mother culture in Japan.
We are looking for volunteers to help with this project. In particular, we are searching for mothers who we can profile and who can provide us with some of their baby's favorite food recipes.
